Susan's Story
It took me ten years to get pregnant and when I finally did, a good friend suggested I have a sculpture of my pregnant body made by Francine Krause. At first, the idea of a pregnancy sculpture seemed a little unusual, but as time went on I came to realize what a wonderful gift it would be. It would commemorate the joy we felt at the pending arrival of our daughter.
My husband and I were a little nervous when we walked into Francine’s studio but when we saw her work and heard her impetus for creating this kind of sculpture, our tensions fell away. All around her studio are the beautiful and unique statues of pregnant women that she has created.
Our daughter is now seven months old and my body has shrunk back to its pre-pregnancy size. I am so grateful to have this life-like reminder of how beautiful my body was during my once-in-a-lifetime, dream-come-true pregnancy.
